MENTAL HEALTH DOG WALKING WORKSHOP
The Mental Health Dog Walking Workshop that took place on June 11th at Lisi Lake was a unique and refreshing event organized to focus on participants’ well-being and mental health. The workshop offered an opportunity for GIMSOC members to enjoy the beauty of nature and engage in a bonding experience with happy puppies.
The event was made possible through a partnership with the local shelter, called DOG shelter, which provided the opportunity for GIMSOC members to take the shelter dogs on a walk around Lisi Lake. This partnership allowed the participants to not only benefit from the mental health benefits of spending time in nature and bonding with animals but also provided an opportunity to help and support the local dog shelter. The workshop had a positive impact on the attendees. They found the exercise and time spent with the dogs to be uplifting, contributing to their overall well-being.
The presence of the dogs brought joy and comfort to the participants, as interacting with animals is known to have positive effects on mental health, reducing stress and promoting feelings of happiness.
Furthermore, the workshop provided an eye-opening experience for the participants to witness the work done by local dog shelters like DOG Shelter. It raised awareness about the importance of supporting and helping these shelters, which often play a crucial role in rescuing and caring for animals in need.
